PRE-tan before your wedding
Before we get to your wedding day, we’d really recommend a trial tan. Consider a PRE-spray session at least a month prior, so that you know what to expect, and can practice applying your wedding day makeup on your freshly tanned skin. We’ll chat through the look you want to get the perfect color for your skintone. Whether it’s a barely-there glow or a deeper bronze, a trial gives you complete confidence that your tan for the big day will look exactly how you want it to. If you have a hair and makeup artist, schedule your PRE two days before your makeup and hair style trials. This way your makeup artist can choose the right foundation shade for your skin, This is your run through that allows the perfect “day of” results.
How many days before my wedding should I airbrush?
We suggest getting your airbrush tan 2-3 days before the big day to give you the most natural tan. Getting your GLOW airbrush tan should be your last beauty prep before your big day! All manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, and hair coloring should be done BEFORE your spray tan. We suggest booking your bridal airbrush session on Wednesday or Thursday for your Saturday wedding. This gives you two showers before THE DRESS and allows your sunless tan to soften to the perfect glow for your wedding photos.
How should I prepare for my airbrush?
Please give yourself a minimum of 4 hours after showering before applying any sunless tan. Get exfoliating! Three days before your appointment is usually a good time to start. Then, exfoliate gently again the day before your tan and shave removing any unwanted hair. Shower, shave and exfoliate using a loofa with our pH balanced Glow body bar or the NUDA exfoliating scrub. All of these fine products are available to purchase at our Glow location.
DO NOT USE DOVE! Dove is not a perferred option when using sunless tanning products. There is an ingredients in Dove that interferes with the sunless tanning product and results.
Pay special attention to knees, elbows and ankles these areas tend to have dry skin buildup. If you choose to use a salt or beaded exfoliant 72 hours prior to tanning it will create small freckles or spots and unevenness when the tan begins to fade, so be aware of this! Many shower products contain oil, wax, and moisturizers that will coat your skin not allowing your tan to soak in evenly.
Again, manicures, pedicures, and waxing should be done prior to your airbrush tanning.
If you do wax, we recommend you give a 24 hour period in between the waxing and the airbrush. This will allow the areas to heal and the airbrush solution won't cause irritation.
For those that have lash extensions, please ask your technician for their recommendations. GLOW will not be responsible for your lash extensions. If you are unsure whether it is safe to airbrush over them, you can choose to cover your lashes with protective eyewear such as winkies which are available for sale at GLOW.
For the smoothest, most luminous bronze, your skin should be free from makeup, moisturizer, deodorant and perfume on the day of your airbrush.
What should I wear for my airbrush?
We recommend that you wear loose fitting clothing. Button up shirts are the best, or a big loose cotton tshirt and sweat pants. AVOID leggings, sports bras, jeggings, tight jeans, workout clothing. Basically avoid anything that is tight and snug. If it is raining be sure to bring a jacket and umbrella (if you don't have one we do!) We will be sure to walk you out to your car so you stay dry!
During your airbrush you can choose to wear what you wish. We do provide disposable string bikini bottoms as well as pasties or you can wear your swimsuit, underwear, or go completely naked – whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
Airbrush after care
Do not shower and stay clear of water activities, sweating, and the rain! The Infinity Sun formulation is active for 12 hours so the longer you leave it on, the darker and longer lasting the tan will be. We recommend that you wait 6-8 hours for a medium GLOW or wait the full 12 hours for the darkest GLOW before showering. The bronzer layer washes off in first shower and the tan underneath lasts 7-11 days with proper after care.

Anything that exfoliates your skin exfoliates your spray tan including facial scrubs, waxing, band-aids and nail polish remover. Keep this in mind.
To wash your body after your airbrush we recommend using a sulfate-free, pH balancing body wash. We carry several options at our Glow location and would be happy to assist you in selecting the right product for your needs. Maintaining a balanced/neutral pH after sunless tanning is crucial to avoiding the dreaded "orange" effect. Avoiding sulfates will help prevent stripping the color.
